Bubbles and Gertie

This year was a beautiful year and a sad year. Obviously, the happiest event of our lives, the best person ever to come into our lives, Archer, arrived and we are over the moon in love! Sadly, we lost 2 of our puppy companions, Bubbles and Gertie. Both had great lives and Bubbles' approach to life - she never let anything get her down - is something I try to embrace in my life as a tribute to her.

Here is a look back in pictures of Bubbles and Gertie. Rest in Peace, my Puppies!

Bubbles came to live with Me, Marshall, Oliver, and Madeline on August 12, 1998. She was about 4.5 months old and had been living with Marshall's boss at the time. She dropped her off, told us she didn't like to be outside and was nervous around other dogs. The instant Marshall's boss left, Bubbles ran to the back door and barked to go out into our tiny backyard and immediately started playing with Ollie and Maddie. She fit in right away!!

Here she is on her first day with us:

Bubbles was a Girl who Knew how to have a good time - and she often was rushed to the ER with cuts, etc...after having too much fun, had to be stitched up, and wear the infamous e-collar.

Posing! Bubbles taught the other dogs how to run out the back door and clear the deck rail

Bubs loved with a full heart and lots of kissies!!

Bubs got car sick, so she always had to ride in the front seat.

Gertrude came to live with us in 2004. Marshall was walking through our neighborhood, studying for his PhD, when Gertie ran up to him and rolled over on her back.

Gertie immediately acted like a little old lady when she came to live with us. We think she escaped from a Puppy Mill or Backyard Breeder - she had horrible teeth and during her lifetime we had to have most of them removed!
Gertie enjoyed travelling with us during the summers to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Here she is with Dash (my parents' cat)

Gertie was always enjoying the pampered life
